Recent Board Victories:
- Demonstrate our School District's commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion by hiring Dr. Tanisha Brandon-Felder as Director of Equity and Family Engagement
- Free All-Day Kindergarten: our Board made early education a District priority by implementing free All Day Kindergarten for all incoming students. This ensures an equal footing for all students entering 1st grade.
- 2017 Capital Bond: overwhelming support from our community passing our 2017 Bond with a remarkable 74%. This is a community that support education.
- Participated in the extremely difficult but financially responsible decision to close elementary schools and programs, setting the ground for today’s excellent credit rating
- Protected the vital alternative programs at Cascade K8 (Room 9) and HEE (Home Education Exchange) ensuring educational programming options for all learners
- Restored curriculum renewal, which had not happened in multiple years
- Abolished class rank, which unfairly impacted students because of our unweighted GPA system
- Re-staffed the College & Career Centers to support students on their paths to future careers or higher education
- Implemented free All Day K for every student in Shoreline, because early learning matters
- Built 2 new high schools, which are award-winning buildings with award-winning programs
- Added a “tech levy” to allow the community to decide the importance of technology in today’s learning environment for Shoreline students (separate from the General Fund)
- Appealed to the community to replace the two aging middle schools, rebuild and enlarge our smallest elementary school, and add an early learning campus for our littlest learners
- Monitored a continuing Capital Projects campaign which enables us to maintain the assets of the School District
- Served as Board President for 3 years, Board Vice President for 4 years and Board Legislative Rep for 1 year
